Without a framework for growing up as gay man, questions involving sexuality, virility, and relationships have caused complications in my life. These issues have stemmed from a society that assumes heterosexuality and idealizes hyper-masculinity, a certain body type, and skin color.  My paintings work through these problems and address the idealized traits that a hetero-normative society produces. By abstracting both the figures and the space that they are in, masculinity becomes enigmatic, blurring the lines between how the viewer identifies homosexuality and heterosexuality.
